THE FIFTH SEAL
Rev. 6:9-11 And when he had opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of them that were slain for the word of God, and for the testimony which they held: (10) And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? (11) And white robes were given unto every one of them; and it was said unto them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellowservants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.
Just as the first four seals revealed the history of the future during the Church age, the next three seals will reveal the end of the age.
These souls seen beneath the altar are all of the martyred saints throughout the age from the the Day of Petentecost until the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.. The first four seals described the conditions in which the church would exist throughout the age. The fifth, sixth, and seventh seals describe the events that will transpire at the close of the age.
Christians have kept the patience and faith of the Lord Jesus Christ for two thousand years holding their testimony to be more precious than their lives. These souls were all placed into the Church in Smyrna, and they have a special place under the altar in rememberance of their sacrifice. Jesus tells them to wait patiently until the age ends when all will have been fulfilled.
The Power to Love
1 Pet. 4:8-9 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall
cover the multitude of sins. (9) Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
Rom. 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath
fulfilled the law.
John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. (23) I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Isa. 45:22-23
1 Cor. 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
1 Cor. 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
