Welcome to the POWER page of the Cross Point Awakening Web Site. What is Power and where does it come from? A good definition of power is “the energy generated by any means to accomplish any purpose.” The remarkable power of Jesus Christ will be explored in this page and the page named “ALL POWER.”
Matt. 28:18-20 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (19) Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: (20) Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
In the above quote, the Greek word from which the word power is translated is exousia. Exousia is used 103 times in the New Testament and has several closely related definitions, all relating to the right to act as a free agent in all matters with no limits. It is translated as power 61 times and as authority 28 Times. A good English understanding of exousia would be, “the right to use power anywhere, anytime, and any place.
There is a second Greek word that is translated as power, which is dunamis. It is the Greek word from which the English word, Dynamite and its derivatives, such as Dynamic, are derived. In the New Testament it always refers to SUPERNATURAL POWER.
Heb. 1:3, speaking of Jesus and in what manner he is truly related to The Father, is another verse that clearly tells us of how powerful our Lord is. “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;”
From these two passages of scripture we can see the power that Jesus can use to accomplish His purpose within any facet of the Creation. All power, and all exousia, in heaven in heaven and earth are given to Him. And He upholds(literally “brings forth”) everything in heaven and earth by His Power.
To perhaps apprehend, as much as our finite minds can comprehend, just how much power Jesus holds, look at the page titled “All Power. As you look at that page, try to keep in mind that Jesus has the absolute right to exercise that power anyway he sees fit. Then begin to marvel that, instead of just letting it all fly apart, He went to the cross for us. (John 3:16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
I believe we should understand the word God as the Godhead, Father, Son, an Holy Spirit. Also, the Greek word that is translated as “world” is, “ Kosmos.” In English we spell it Cosmos. We understand it as the Universe, which is a word that comes into English from Latin. So the entire Cosmos will be redeemed when we receive our new bodies at the return of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our God.
Rom. 8:22-23 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. (23) And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
The Power to Love
1 Pet. 4:8-9 And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall
cover the multitude of sins. (9) Use hospitality one to another without grudging.
Rom. 13:8 Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath
fulfilled the law.
John 15:12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else. (23) I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. Isa. 45:22-23
1 Cor. 12:31 But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.
1 Cor. 13:8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
